Fall at Cold Spring Resort

Fall at Cold Spring Resort

Few can argue that one of the greatest benefits of our location in the heart of New Hampshire is the experience of the four New England seasons; seasons that completely change the area’s landscape and recreational opportunities. Arguably, the most spectacular of them all is fall. Painfully short compared to its counterparts, autumn at Cold Spring is like a symphony to the senses:  Cool evenings followed by Indian summer days, the scent of garden harvests and faint aroma of smoke from nearby hearths, the sound of rustling leaves beneath your feet and of course the sight of autumn’s magnificent colors igniting the majestic landscapes of our lakes and mountains.

Fall at Cold Spring is special. The weather is, more often than not, summer-like when the sun reaches its early afternoon apex. A light jacket, put on in the morning, inevitably finds itself wrapped around the waist as a short walk in the woods leads to immersion in the awe-inspiring colors, made even more brilliant by the same sun that threatens to give bare arms a touch up to summer tans.

At Cold Spring we encourage exploration. A 10 minute drive to the east leads to Squam Lake, one of New Hampshire’s most pristine bodies of water, made famous by the movie “On Golden Pond.” To our west is Plymouth, with its myriad of restaurants and cultural offerings; Tilton and Concord to our south for shopping and antiquing, and, of course, the mountains to our north for incredible fall hiking expeditions. If you’d rather explore with company, our van often leads trips to fall-themed activities like apple picking, corn mazes, farm stands and covered bridge tours.

Fall best exemplifies what we look for in a vacation. It reminds us that time moves quickly and that sometimes we need to take a step back, enjoy the moment and the company of our loved ones. There’s beauty all around us if we just take the time to pause, live in the moment and take a deep breath. A fall getaway to Cold Spring offers just that.  A brief but spectacular break from the rhythm of everyday life.
